Pinal county borders Maricopa County and is considered a suburb of Phoenix. And Graham and Greenlee counties are east of Pinal county.  Would you like to live in a golf community at the base of the mighty Superstition Mountains with miles of hiking. Then Gold Canyon is the place for you. Do your own prospecting? Live in Queen Valley and feel like you are a world away but actually not be too far away from shops and restaurants. Would you like your own pecan, date or alfalfa farm or an orchard? You will like the Picacho area or Solomon. Perhaps you would like to work at a mine? There are several to choose from in the Superior, Morenci, or Safford areas. Do you like rock climbing, hiking, trailriding and water falls? Pinal, Graham, and Greenlee counties have all of these things. The hottest temperature for Graham and Greenlee counties is about 98. The section of Pinal county that borders Maricopa county is over 100 for much of the summer, but the further away you get from Maricopa county, the cooler the temperatures - like Oracle is the coolest place and it's actually in the foothills of Mt. Lemmon/the Catalina mountains near Tucson. And northern Greenlee county has pine trees and nice camping. You might occasionally see a light dusting of snow in these counties except for northern Greenlee county which is in the White Mountains so it will get a lot of snow. But most of that area is national forest with nice hiking trails.

Visit historic Goldfield Ghost Town and tube the Salt River or fish Saguaro or Canyon lakes. Apache Junction is a quaint cowboy town with retirement communities. Gold Canyon has more upscale housing and golf resorts. Queen Creek is a farming community with new housing developments and according to backgroundchecks.org it has the #2 top school district in the entire state.  Freeways offer easy access to everything in the Phoenix valley, and an airport is nearby.

The Florence area has horse properties, retirement communities, and newer housing developments. You get to be near the Phoenix valley for venues but get to star-gaze at night. And camp on Mt. Lemmon or Mt. Graham in the summer. Mt. Graham is over 10,000 feet elevation and Mt. Lemmon is in Pima county next to Tucson.  Or you can climb up to the Sierra Ancha wilderness area to camp in the summer.

The new Lucid Motors manufacturing plant is in Casa Grande and Diamond Plastics Manufacturing plant is in Eloy and land tends to be more affordable here than in the Phoenix valley.  You might want to purchase some history to decorate your home with from the Western Trading Post and visit the Frontier Museum.

Aravaipa Creek and Canyon offer a beautiful hike in Graham County. The San Pedro and Gila rivers offer places to cool off in the summer. The San Pedro flows from Florence to Mexico. Both rivers offer miles of riparian areas and irrigated farmland. The Boyce Thompson Arboretum is near Superior and we have lots of beautiful hikes in that area. You could live in Eden and have a garden and fish at Dankworth Pond, a 15 acre pond in a 150 acre state park. You can find affordable farmland or acreage in these counties. If you want an active retirement community, there are lots to choose from. Depends on whether you want to be near the Phoenix valley or get away from it. Florence is near the Phoenix metropolitan area and home to Florence Gardens active retirement community with golf and pickleball.

Safford and Three Way have very small airports for single engine planes. And they are at the base of the mighty Mt. Graham that has pine trees and an observatory at the top of it. Graham county offers employment opportunities as well as a University of Arizona campus in Safford. You might like the Mt. Graham Golf Club - golf with mountain views - it's a couple of hours away from the Phoenix area.
